New Minimum Wage Rates for 2025 in Slovakia

The Slovak Labor Code mandates that wages cannot fall below the legally determined minimum wage. This wage is reviewed and updated annually by the Regulation of the Government of the Slovak Republic.

For 2025, the new minimum wage is:

  • EUR 4.690 per hour, or

  • EUR 816 per month (for full-time employees).

This is equivalent to USD 4.93 per hour or USD 857.22 per month.

Payment Schedule for Wages

Employers are required to pay wages monthly in arrears, meaning employees are compensated at the end of each month for work performed in the previous month. The deadline for payment is the last day of the following month after the wages were earned.

Example: If wages are earned in January, they must be paid by the end of February at the latest.

However, individual employment contracts or collective agreements may allow for more frequent pay intervals, such as bi-weekly payments, depending on the employer’s practices.

Bonuses

The Slovak Labor Code does not require employers to provide bonuses. However, many companies offer 13th and 14th month pay as part of their employment contracts.

Slovak employers must ensure compliance with the new minimum wage that has been in effect since January 1, 2025. They should also review employment contracts and collective agreements to align with updated wage requirements, and clearly communicate any bonus or profit-sharing opportunities to employees.
