About

Based in Raleigh, North Carolina, Mamoon is a leading Salesforce platform implementation and support partner. It helps businesses of all sizes to optimize workforce processes, boost productivity, and eliminate data silos. Mamoon also offers custom development for backend and mobile apps, providing end-to-end solutions that help streamline business operations.

Mamoon grew quickly from a family-run business to become one of the fastest-growing companies in the state and sold to private equity in 2018. With this came the need to expand operations and grow the business further afield.

Challenge

Mamoon had six consultants abroad that they wanted to convert to full-time employees. Using one of the consultants based in Jordan as a test run, Mamoon researched the process of establishing its own legal entities, but it was quickly determined as unfeasible. The internal HR team was built with domestic functions in mind and adding the complexities of international labor and tax regulations was not possible.

The level of global experience and knowledge required an Employer of Record (EOR) partner. After thorough due diligence, in which Atlas and another EOR were considered, an internal referral tipped the balance in favor of the latter.

Indirect EOR Model Shortcomings

Mamoon kicked off their first EOR in May 2022. However, it soon became apparent that the provider was not a good fit for Mamoon’s needs. Its indirect EOR model had a lot of shortcomings, including a lack of pricing transparency with unexpected charges, endless support issues, excessive time for resolution, and the inability to provide a human point of contact.

After a year, Mamoon decided to switch its EOR partner and give Atlas a chance to save the company’s international plans. Atlas was able to successfully migrate Mamoon’s international team members to its fully owned and operated entities in Jordan and other countries, providing the compliance peace of mind any company needs while managing global teams.

“'Our employees [now] have got a dedicated person that they can go to, with a dedicated email address and answers usually come within 24 hours or, you know, 48 hours. I'll tell you this: our employees have been so much happier.”
Christian Keller, HR director at Mamoon

Impact

With Atlas, all the issues with the previous EOR provider were resolved. Communication was fluent between both parties, with a dedicated account manager assigned to Mamoon as a human point of contact. As a consequence, the resolution of issues that used to take weeks are now typically solved in less than 24 hours.

“Atlas is saving us somewhere in the neighborhood of $50,000 to $60,000 a year, and for a small smart startup company like us that's a lot of money.”
Christian Keller, HR director at Mamoon

Atlas’ direct EOR model and the absence of intermediaries provided several advantages to Mamoon. Firstly, they enjoy a transparent pricing structure with no additional hidden charges from third parties. Secondly, Atlas could provide a unified invoice that helped the company manage its cash flow reliably. And finally, Mamoon enjoyed cost savings of between $50,000 - $60,000 per year, which is a significant amount for a startup like Mamoon.
